Montr\u00e9al, 18 octobre 2011 \u2013 Alexandre \u00c9mond<\/strong> s\u2019est inclin\u00e9, mardi, \u00e0 son premier duel dans la cat\u00e9gorie des moins de 90 kg au Grand Prix de judo d\u2019Abou Dhabi, aux \u00c9mirats arabes unis.<\/p>\n

Le Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois, 19e au monde, a re\u00e7u un laissez-passer au premier tour, avant d\u2019affronter l\u2019Azerba\u00efdjanais Elnur Mammadli, non class\u00e9 chez les 90 kg, mais 3e mondial du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des 81 kg.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Mammadli est un ancien champion olympique chez les 73 kg et il combat maintenant du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des 81 kg, a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 l\u2019entra\u00eeneur canadien Nicolas Gill<\/strong>. Il est d\u00e9j\u00e0 assur\u00e9 de sa s\u00e9lection dans la cat\u00e9gorie des 81 kg pour les Jeux de Londres. J’imagine qu’il a donc pris le tournoi comme un entra\u00eenement. \u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00c9mond s\u2019est battu pendant cinq minutes face \u00e0 l\u2019Azerba\u00efdjanais, qui s\u2019est finalement impos\u00e9 par waza-ari.<\/p>\n

Mammadli a poursuivi sa route jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019obtention de l\u2019une des deux m\u00e9dailles de bronze de la cat\u00e9gorie.<\/p>\n

\u00ab \u00c0 la premi\u00e8re attaque du combat, l\u2019Azerba\u00efdjanais a projet\u00e9 Alex, qui est lourdement tomb\u00e9 sur l’\u00e9paule, a expliqu\u00e9 Gill. Alex s\u2019est bless\u00e9 l\u00e9g\u00e8rement, mais il a poursuivi. Il n’avait toutefois plus la force n\u00e9cessaire dans son bras pour vraiment mettre en danger son adversaire. \u00bb<\/p>\n
