Young a disput\u00e9 cinq combats chez les moins de 81 kg, pour conclure sa journ\u00e9e sur la troisi\u00e8me marche du podium.<\/p>\n\n\n

Oppos\u00e9 au Suisse Thien Oulevey en finale de bronze, Young n\u2019a pas perdu de temps pour s\u2019imposer. Respectant son plan de match \u00e0 la lettre, l\u2019Ontarien de 23 ans a r\u00e9ussi un ippon apr\u00e8s 1 min 20 s de combat pour d\u00e9crocher la sixi\u00e8me m\u00e9daille de sa carri\u00e8re dans un Open continental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Keagan a tr\u00e8s bien g\u00e9r\u00e9 son adversaire. Il savait un peu \u00e0 quoi s\u2019attendre parce qu\u2019un de ses co\u00e9quipiers avait affront\u00e9 Oulevey plus t\u00f4t dans la journ\u00e9e et on a pu pr\u00e9parer le plan de match en cons\u00e9quence. Keagan est un athl\u00e8te extr\u00eamement explosif, et il n\u2019a pas rat\u00e9 l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de prendre le contr\u00f4le de ce combat \u00bb, a mentionn\u00e9 l\u2019entra\u00eeneur canadien Antoine Bouchard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En d\u00e9but de journ\u00e9e, Young a vaincu coup sur coup l\u2019Italien Matteo Frontaurea, l\u2019Isra\u00e9lien Ofir Arie et l\u2019Am\u00e9ricain Johan Silot. Il a toutefois \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9fait en demi-finales par le Polonais Pawel Drzymal, \u00e9ventuel m\u00e9daill\u00e9 d\u2019or de la cat\u00e9gorie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Keagan a connu une excellente journ\u00e9e o\u00f9 il a r\u00e9ussi plusieurs projections. Il s\u2019est bless\u00e9 \u00e0 un pied au tout d\u00e9but de la comp\u00e9tition, mais on ne connait pas exactement la nature de la blessure. Malgr\u00e9 \u00e7a, il est all\u00e9 chercher plusieurs victoires, dans la douleur, c\u2019est tout \u00e0 son honneur \u00bb, a ajout\u00e9 Bouchard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trois autres athl\u00e8tes canadiens combattaient dans la m\u00eame cat\u00e9gorie. Olivier Gagnon a remport\u00e9 ses deux premiers duels avant de s\u2019incliner au troisi\u00e8me tour face \u00e0 Oulevey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, David Popovici a profit\u00e9 d\u2019un laissez-passer au premier tour lorsque son adversaire, le Slov\u00e8ne Aljaz Plantak, ne s\u2019est pas pr\u00e9sent\u00e9. Il a ensuite subi la d\u00e9faite face \u00e0 l\u2019Allemand Vladimir Stark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 sa premi\u00e8re comp\u00e9tition chez les moins de 81 kg, Arthur Margelidon a baiss\u00e9 pavillon d\u2019entr\u00e9e de jeu devant Vladyslav Kolobov, de l\u2019Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chez les moins de 90 kg, Guillaume Gaulin a remport\u00e9 ses deux premiers combats de la journ\u00e9e avant de s\u2019incliner en quart de finale face \u00e0 l\u2019Espagnol Daniel Nieto Trinidad. Le Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois a \u00e9galement subi la d\u00e9faite au rep\u00eachage alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait oppos\u00e9 au Belge Noah Christiaens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 f\u00e9minin, Marie-Lune Turmel et Heidi Quach ont subi des sorts similaires dans le tableau des moins de 48 kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turmel a remport\u00e9 ses deux premiers combats face \u00e0 l\u2019Espagnole Marta Beorlegui et \u00e0 l\u2019Italienne Sofia Petitto. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, Quach a vaincu coup sur coup l\u2019Italienne Anna Iovino et l\u2019Espagnole Zuleima Del Carmen Falcon Sanchez pour obtenir son billet pour les demi-finales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quach \u00e9tait alors oppos\u00e9e \u00e0 la Fran\u00e7aise Marine Gilly alors que Turmel avait rendez-vous avec la s\u0153ur de Marine, Coralie. Les deux Qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises ont perdu leur affrontement respectif et se sont tourn\u00e9es vers les combats pour les m\u00e9dailles de bronze o\u00f9 elles ont encore connu des r\u00e9sultats identiques, s\u2019inclinant toutes les deux pour conclure en cinqui\u00e8me place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Elles ont sign\u00e9 deux belles victoires en d\u00e9but de journ\u00e9e avant de perdre contre les s\u0153urs Gilly. Il y avait un peu d\u2019amertume. \u00c7\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 des combats serr\u00e9s pour les m\u00e9dailles de bronze, Marie-Lune a perdu en prolongation et Heidi a vu son adversaire r\u00e9ussir un yuko en fin de combat pour se sauver avec la victoire \u00bb, a racont\u00e9 Antoine Bouchard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evelyn Beaton (-52 kg) a termin\u00e9 en septi\u00e8me place. Elle a remport\u00e9 son premier affrontement face \u00e0 la Fran\u00e7aise Pauline Cuq avant de plier l\u2019\u00e9chine en quarts de finale contre la Hongroise Janka Juttner. Elle s\u2019est \u00e9galement inclin\u00e9e au rep\u00eachage contre la Roumaine Luciana Catana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, Kelly Deguchi (-57 kg) a \u00e9t\u00e9 limit\u00e9e \u00e0 un seul combat \u00e0 Ljubljana, s\u2019inclinant face \u00e0 la Suisse Binta Ndiaye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
