29 December 2020Is Quebec’s Crown in Danger?
29 December 2020After the Elite National Championships in January 2018, Montréal will have another chance to host a high-level judo competition. The City of Montréal was chosen to host the Elite National Championships again in January 2019. The 2018 edition, held in La TOHU, was a huge success, proving that the city can present a high calibre judo tournament.
“We’re very happy to renew this partnership with the City of Montréal,” says Nicolas Gill, CEO and High Performance Director for Judo Canada. “The 2018 edition was an undisputed success, from the choice of the venue to the organization of the tournament, and people still talk about it. The support, the hospitality and the help from the City were undeniable. In March, Montréal was named the top-ranking city for hosting sports events by the Global Sports Impact (GSI) Canada Index, and we are proud to contribute to this honour. We hope people will come again to see the extraordinary performances of our athletes.”
“We’re delighted to be holding once again a national judo competition in Montréal. Not only the Elite National Championships reflect Montréal sports events strategy, this competition confirms the interest from the national sports federations in organizing sports events in Montréal and using the expertise of the multiple sports partners,” said Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “Our organization looks forward to working closely with local sporting partners to ensure that all participants enjoy a memorable stay.”
The venue of the competition is still to confirm, but there’s no doubt that Montréal will showcase the talent of our judokas and make a memorable competition with a flawless organization.
