On Day 2 of the Canadian Open Judo Championships, after the U18 and Veteran tournaments, Quebec is leading the ranking with an impressive haul of 37 medals (9 gold, 9 silver and 19 bronze), more than twice the amount of their closest competitor. Alberta is second with 6 gold medals, 4 silver and 5 bronze, for a total of 15, and Ontario is closing the top 3 with 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze, for a total of 12 medals. British Columbia also had a good day with 19 medals, 4 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze.

Our athletes had the chance to be cheered on by a large and loud crowd of parents and judo fans from all around the country, and even the world. Most of the visually impaired athletes, who will be competing for the IBSA Pan-American Championships on Sunday, were at the venue today, and brought their fans with them.

The tournament will continue tomorrow with the U16 and U21 categories, and Sunday will close it with the Senior and visually impaired athletes. In addition to the great judo happening on the mats, spectators can also visit the Judo Canada booth, where they can find posters, pamphlets, programs and other documents, or our sponsors booths, where they can buy t-shirts and hoodies of the tournament, as well as judogis.

The technical package containing the schedule for the weekend can be found on www.judonationals.org, and for those who can’t be at the venue, live streaming is available all weekend for all 4 mats at www.judocanada.tv.
