International Ranking

To qualify for the Olympics Games, Canadian athletes have now to compete against other athletes from around the world. For the Tokyo Games, the International Judo Federation established a qualifying process that started in 2018 and that will have the athletes compete over a period  of two years in a series of Tournaments around the world in which they will be able, depending on their performance and tournament level, to accumulate points in the international ranking system. Only the best six tournament results of the first year (the first year counting only for 50%) and the best six tournament results of the second year will count for the final ranking. The top 18 best athletes according to the world ranking, with limits of one participant per country, will qualify for the Olympics.  A few additional spots will be offered through continental quotas.
