For the second year in a row, the Elite National Championships will be presented at la TOHU, in Montreal, on January 12-13, 2019. During this tournament, the top 8 athletes in each weight category will be coming from all over Canada to try to win a national title. In addition to being an exciting weekend, the tournament is part of the Giant Sherwood Ford Canadian Circuit, a program ranking the Canadian judokas and rewarding the top male and female performers with a bursary (click here to see the latest ranking). The decision to present the event in la TOHU for a second time was an easy one after last year’s success. The circular shape of the venue makes it perfect to showcase the athletes, and the spectators get to enjoy a great view of everything happening on the mats–like a true gladiator’s arena! Organizing this event wouldn’t be possible without Judo Canada’s loyal partners: the Canadian government, Quebec government, the city of Montreal, Tourisme Montréal, la TOHU, and numerous sponsors, several of which will be attending and have an information booth to answer any questions athletes and coaches might have.
Curious to see which team will bring home the U18 team banner this year? Tickets for the event are already on sale here: http://bit.ly/2DGYjUv. A live streaming will also be available on www.judocanada.tv for those who can’t attend the event in person.
