Montreal, November 27, 2018 – As part of the International Judo Federation Grand Prix happening in Montreal next July, Judo Canada and the Olympic Park are proud to announce a partnership between the two organizations.
The Olympic Park and Judo Canada decided to combine their efforts to shine the light on the sport of judo, its values and its athletes through different promotion initiatives in their respective networks. It was an obvious choice of partner for Judo Canada, with the National Training Centre, in which the national teams’ athletes train every day, being in the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) facilities in the Sport Centre of the Olympic Park, at the foot of the Montreal Tower. The dojos also welcome numerous international athletes who are coming from all over the world to train in the outstanding facilities.
“The partnership between Judo Canada and the Olympic Park will increase the outreach of both our organizations,” said Alain Larochelle, marketing director at the Olympic Park. “Furthermore, we want to congratulate Judo Canada for obtaining their first Grand Prix, which will take place in the Olympic District, at the Maurice-Richard Arena. We will be supporting the Quebecois and Canadian athletes through their future competition.”
“The Olympic Park was a must for us. Its design is unique and beautiful, but it also sends a clear message: Montreal, Olympic city, athletic city, is the ‘Mecca’ of Canadian judo. It’s in this perspective that everything will be centralized here. We are very proud to be a resident sport, and it’s meaningful for us to be able to present both the international tournaments hosted by Canada in the Olympic Park. For the first Grand Prix in Canadian history, which is also a Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier, we will receive help and exposure, but we will also benefit from a proven organizational expertise. We are convinced that with the support of the Olympic Park marketing team, we will be able to take up new challenges and create a few surprises,” added Nicolas Gill, CEO of Judo Canada.
As part of their new partnership, the organizations are committed to promote each other’s activities on their various platforms: social media, advertising space, etc. The athletes will also be involved and could, as requested, attend activities in the Olympic Park.
