Montreal, November 15, 2019 – Judo Canada is happy to welcome Leonida Sheffield as their new Sport Development and Events Coordinator. She will be working on a variety of projects pertaining to events, communications and sport development within Judo Canada over the next several months.
While new to the Judo Canada team, Lea Sheffield has been part of the judo community her entire life. Both her parents are former members of the national judo team and opened a dojo in Stouffville (Sheffield Judo Club), where Lea started training at a young age. “What I love most about judo are the endless opportunities to learn and improve,” she explained. Her family is still very active in the Canadian judo community.
Lea has obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and an Advanced College Diploma in Journalism at the Centennial College. Before working for Judo Canada, she was a Marketing and Communications Intern for the Canada Games Council and the Event Coordinator for Skate Canada.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work in a sport that I know and love,” she said about her new position.
Welcome to the Judo Canada team!
