Montreal, May 14, 2015 – It was a short day for the two Canadian judokas at the IBSA World Championships, in Seoul, South Korea. Alexander Radoman (Under 81kg) and Priscilla Gagné (Under 52kg) tallied 0-2 and 0-1, respectively, in the multisport competition for visually-impaired athletes.

In his first match, Radoman lost by ippon to Mexico’s Eduardo Sanchez.

In repechage, the Hamilton native measured up against Ukranian Alexandr Kosinov, who won by ippon two minutes into the bout.

Both Sanchez and Kosinov ended up climbing onto the third step of the podium. Jungmin Lee, from Korea, won the gold, and Sharif Khalilov, from Uzbekistan, got the silver in the Under 81kg class.

Priscilla Gagné lost her only bout of the day. Up against China’s Biyun Li, the Ontarian from Sarnia succumbed to an ippon. Li came in seventh in the competition.

In the fight for the gold medal, Russian Alesia Stepaniuk beat Ukrainian Nataliya Nikolaychyk.

On Friday, Tony Walby will compete in the Under 90kg class.
