Fifteen Judokas Strike Gold in Edmonton!
14 January 2024

Montréal, January 11, 2024 – On January 13 and 14, Edmonton will once again host the Elite National Championships. Over 200 judokas from across the country will gather at the University of Alberta’s Sports Centre to compete in the Senior and U18 categories.

The tournament will be particularly important for the U18 athletes, as the members of Canada’s national cadet team will be selected following the event.

“The 2024 Elite National Championships will see the emergence of our future champions, who will be selected to the national cadet team and will proudly represent Canada at international events in the future,” said Nicolas Gill, CEO and High Performance Director at Judo Canada.

“The support of the City of Edmonton, the Government of Alberta, and the local judo community will be crucial to the success of this major national event,” he added.

The event will kick off on Saturday with the U18 tournaments, and will conclude on Sunday with the Senior events.

Since the inaugural event in 2015, several of the tournament’s U18 gold medallists have gone on to represent Canada at the senior level, including Coralie Godbout, Evelyn Beaton, Keagan Young, and Alexandre Arencibia, who continue to represent the nation today.

The Elite National Championships will be live-streamed on judocanada.tv and all results will be available in real time at judocanada.live.

Tickets to the on-site event may be purchased through the official website of Judo Canada.
